The exhibition is based on artefacts that once belonged to Pavel Karabanov, a prominent connoisseur of Russian history. For more than fifty years he had been building up his private museum, which his contemporaries called the Second Armoury Chamber.

The exhibition is based on the collection of Russian history enthusiast Pavel Karabanov. He looked for antiques wherever he could find them: through acquaintances, at flea markets, and sometimes fate intervened to help him.
